24 April 2020
The 2020 Times Higher Education University Impact Rankings have been revealed with the University of Manchester's social and environmental impact named the best in the UK.
857 universities from 89 countries and regions across six continents were assessed on the impact of their education, research, operations and public engagement activity, using the UN Sustainable Development Goals as a framework. The University also finished second in Europe and eighth globally, with King's College London and University of Leeds rounding off the top three in the UK.
Dr Julian Skyrme, Director of Social Responsibility, said: “It’s really pleasing that we’ve maintained our position as the top university in the UK for social and environmental impact, despite more universities than ever entering the ranking.”
